Is the iovera° treatment for me?

It is important to understand the cause of your pain.  If the pain is chronic, due to osteoarthritis, it can be alleviated by cryoanalgesia with the ioverao system.  The ioverao system has also been shown to help in reducing opioid consumption and faster recovery in patients after surgery.  Post-surgical pain is considered to be acute pain.

The ioverao treatment is focused and localized.  Therefore there are no systemic side effects that are typically experienced with NSAIDS, narcotics and other medication.  There is no drug being injected into the treatment area by the ioverao system.  Therefore, very few, if any, localized side effects due to the ioverao treatment have been observed.  Please click here to see the complete list of indications, contraindications and side effects of the ioverao system.  You should consult with your physician to determine if cryoanalgesia with the ioverao system will benefit you.

What kind of results can I expect?

Results from the ioverao treatment can be felt immediately after treatment.  When the treatment is applied to a specific nerve, it will interrupt that nerve’s ability to send a pain signal, providing an immediate reduction in pain.

How long does it last?

The duration of the pain relief lasts until the nerve has regenerated, which depends on the individual and location of the nerve being treated. In general, nerves regenerate at a rate of approximately 1-2mm per day1.

Could this replace the need for knee surgery or other therapies?

The ioverao treatment has been performed prior to knee surgery to help reduce pain during the critical weeks2 following surgery.  The effect is temporary, helping you manage your post-surgical pain.  It does not change the underlying condition for which your physician has recommended surgery or other therapies.
